One method of handling long term obesity and chronic fat and belly fat problems without resorting to liposuction is lap band surgery. Lap band surgery is an adjustable gastric band weight-loss procedure where a prosthetic band is placed around the upper stomach. This creates a small pouch that limits the amount of food the patient eats. A difference in the early days between the LAP BAND system and the Swedish band adjustable back is that they have self-closing mechanism. It had to be closed with stitches.
The choice of surgery to lose weight is not only a medical decision important, but also an important financial decision. Some people eventually give up the diets – who want to lose belly fat or lose fat and cellulite forever. The best diets and weight loss plans have not worked for some reason.
Emotionally unstable or mentally handicapped people do not considered for Lap Band surgery. Or if you're dependent on alcohol or drugs will be ineligible for surgery or adjustable band. In any case, usually contraindicated if the surgery or treatment shows an unreasonable risk to the patient.
Any failure of diet or weight of the drug therapy lost more than 12 months can make one eligible for the adjustable gastric banding procedure. Other contraindications for Lap Band surgery are: an allergic reaction to materials found in the band and for anyone who has shown intolerance to the pain of all implanted devices.
The bariatric surgeon uses a needle particular to avoid any damage to the port membrane. The placement of the adjustable gastric band creates a very small pouch in the upper stomach, which has about 50 ml, this bag "filled" with fast food and the passage of food from the top to the bottom of the stomach is reduced. When the liquid enters the stomach lap band expands, exerting pressure around the outside of the stomach. This expansion decreases the step size in the stomach and restricts the movement of food.
While the upper stomach is thought to track the message to the brain is that the stomach is full and it is this feeling that helps the patient to eat smaller portions and lose weight over a period of time. The band is inflated and adjusted by means of an access port small that is placed subcutaneously – directly under the skin. Then the radiopaque isotonic solution or saline is introduced into the band through port created. Future removal of the adjustable gastric band procedure requires precise keyhole. The stomach generally returns to its normal pre-band the state.
The amount of weight lost in the months after the surgery depends on the person and their personal preferences, circumstances, motivation, and mobility. Using the precise, accurate and more sensitive adjustment of the gastric band is a must for any loss of weight and ultimately the success long-term back banding procedure. Many doctors that the first adjustment between six to eight weeks after surgery to allow time to time to properly heal stomach, after fillings are performed whenever needed.
Some patients may find that band before having their first fill they are still able to eat fairly large portions of food. The lap band may remain deflated during pregnancy. Once breastfeeding or bottle feeding completes the band may be gradually re-inflated to help with weight loss after delivery if it is necessary.
Some adjustable gastric band post-complications surgery that can arise are abdominal pain, a loss of strength, hernia, pain, infection, chest pain, infection of the incision, the incision pain, fever and even death has occurred.
Some of the mechanical failures that can occur after surgery are seeping from port, some cracking of the kink-resistant tubing or disruption of the connection pipe from the port to the band, pain in the port area and displacement port.
Erosion can occur, ie, the band can use a small area outside the stomach. This can lead to migration of the band inside the stomach. Sometimes slippage can occur. This is not common in the lower part of the stomach may prolapse over the gastric band and cause a obstruction.
Some weight after surgery, the loss of surgical teams offer support groups. However, some of them mix ring gastric surgery patients with gastric banding patients. Better to find a support group for gastric banding patients only. It is also important find a team of weight loss that has a good post-surgical plan because after surgery recommendations can vary greatly.
It is important discuss post-surgical care and diet plans with your doctor bariatric or weight loss if you are considering that adjustable gastric banding or the lap band surgery. The surgery cost of lap band can be a problem too. In any case, make sure you understand all the pros and cons before engaged.
