Why my hard drive and Cd drive will not have power ONLY when IDE cord is connected?

Why is my hard drive an cd drive not getting power when I have the IDE cords in them….when I unplug those and leave the power in it…it will have power….but when IDE AND Power is in them…nothing happens, no power…..whats going on here?

The IDE Cable is plugged in the wrong way only

Either at the Hard disk side or at the Mother Board side,

Do this:

On the mother board IDE connection plug you will see pin 1(one) writen on the Mother Board the red line on the IDE cable goes there,
and on the hard disk the red line will be closest to the power plug on the Hard drive, Hope this helps
