When someone constantly clears their throat, is it more of a physical or psychological condition?
I work with a couple of people who literally clear their throat every 30 seconds, and it sounds like they are having a stroke every time they do it. It is so grating that some in the office have taken to wearing not only earphones, but earplugs.
It seems to me that after a while, whatever is in their throat would get cleared out, and it is now some sort of nervous tic or something.
What are your thoughts?
OCD or tourettes. Its not physical. I think he woulda had that checked out some time ago

Mary Martin, founder of the Association of Reflexologists and its own School of Reflexology, has case studies of their own successfully treated patients with tinnitus reflexology.
According to Martin, patients with tinnitus hear sounds such as ringing, whistling, buzzing, whistling or ringing in one or both ears or in their heads. Depending on the case, these sounds may be constant or may come and go. The sound level varies with each individual. Interfere much with normal life and can lead to insomnia and depression. In many cases, tinnitus is accompanied by deafness.
Martin notes that while tinnitus is not visible and patients often do not present external signs of their suffering, people with tinnitus take much courage to bear the grief.
Among the possible causes of tinnitus are the complications of secretory otitis media in children, ear infections or inflammation, Meniere's disease, otosclerosis, disorders of the blood vessels in the head, High doses of certain drugs such as quinine, aspirin and antibiotics selected; wax seriously affected, and prolonged exposure to loud noise, as music on the headphones, the sound of jackhammers and other sounds long. One of the most important triggers, however, is stress.
While Martin recommends consulting an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist doctors, says there is often no medical cure for tinnitus. Instead, a device Masking is usually prescribed. This is like a hearing aid, except that emits its own sound intended to distract the patient from the buzzing sound. Not all patients to take, however.
Martin presents the case for his 43-year-old female patient who could not be helped by doctors in seven years because their tinnitus was caused by stress.
