HAM RADIO:can I both listen and respond to emergancy calls with a kenwood TH-F6A?
Yes I did contact kenwood and they lead me to there brochures page. However,I wanted to see if I could get personal experience from ham radio operators or just anyone who’s used a ham radio or knows anything about it.I’ve seen them on ebay so somebody out there uses them
To transmit with that radio you will need to get a ham license first.

After that, you could listen to emergency calls and even respond to them. Ham radio is used for emergencies and disasters but normally there are very few emergency calls over ham radio. Mostly you will hear hams just talking to one another – most of it is pretty mundane chatter between radio friends.

Amateur or ham radio is largely a pastime activity. Most of the time hobby Baricco is dedicated to making contact and conversations with people in distant regions and different cultures. Bidirectional communication, identifying their location and season, area, region and place is the custom. This is always followed by other types of informal communication. If contact is made for a contest for two-way communication with as many stations or amateur radio operators as possible, that all information is shared.
DX-and DX-ing expeditions:
The amateur radio operator main hobby is to contact as many stations as possible from many parts of the world as possible. DX means distant stations. The DX-ing general, continues with the QSO. (Q code, see below), which means "conversation".
DX-expeditions are different in the sense that the expeditions are organized and planned with the sole purpose of making contact with some of special or rare seasons and regions. Some people travel long distance just to make contact with some region or place represented.
Radio Scanners frequencies available today are the most useful tool in these efforts. The scanner scans for radio signals to a strong signal is found and so on.
QSL Cards:
The Q code is a set standard three-letter coding of messages, all starting with the letter "Q", initially developed for the commercial radio communication, and later adopted by other radio services, especially amateur radio. In audio of the time signaling current, Q codes are not essential. but still in use and are seen as a kind of tradition.
As part of DX-ing DX-expeditions and QSL card or proof of the contact card is shared. QSL is a Q such code that means "I acknowledge receipt. The common practice was those who made contact on a given frequency of change of a QSL card in the email to confirm your contacts and conversations. These cards can be used QSL as evidence of his touchdown and amateur operators who make contact with a number of other amateur radio operators at a given time is granted. On the other hand, are distinguished and honored, as they are considered effective amateur radio operators.
Remote region contact:
Some countries operators radio amateurs are less, and make contact with these is considered special. Thus, when a ham in these regions is contacted other ham operators go to make communication with this / these hams. Making contact with these places have their awards underrepresented and special considerations in the award programs.
Hamfests:
Social events for ham friends and family. It is similar to family-oriented social festivals where there are no sales, exchanges, meetings and entertainment. Similarly, the festival is filled with the sale and exchange of hams, meeting real-life friends ham and fun events for a day or sometimes more a few days.
Discussion groups and networks:
Ham operators form a group discussion based on common interests or even other ham can be a ham-related group discussion and can form networks or networks.
If a radio amateur is involved with all these different activities, he or she is sure she'll never be bored. Look at some of them and see if you would like to participate.
