Los angloparlantes han adoptado la palabra spam para definir el
correo basura y, por extensión, todo aquello que pulula por la
web y que mediante técnicas intrusivas pretende hacernos llegar
ofertas comerciales. Así, además del convencional spam mediante
el email, existen otros canales por donde aquél se desarrolla
como los canales de chat o los sitios web basura, diseñados
específicamente diseñados para obtener buenas posiciones en los
buscadores pero que no ofrecen al usuario ninguna utilidad y le

numerosos anuncios que suelen contener.

La palabra spam tiene un origen curioso. En realidad es una

mismo sucede con los sitios web basura; cada vez cuesta más

no tienen nada que ver con lo que estamos usando pero sí
contienen un buen puñado de anuncios.

Protegerse del las páginas web basura no es algo que esté en
nuestras manos; los buscadores, con Google a la cabeza, no son
capaces de afrontar esa plaga de spam web y los resultados de
búsqueda es algo que sólo a ellos les atañe. Por su propio bien

o, finalmente, la web acabará volviendo su mirada hacia una

recibimos a través del email de una manera sencilla y bastante
eficiente. Aunque no es conocido y manejado por muchos, la
mayoría de las cuentas de correo ofrecidas por los proveedores,
ofrecen la posibilidad de redireccionarse, es decir, que una vez
que nos llega un mensaje de correo electrónico podemos hacer que
se reenvíe automáticamente a otra cuenta de correo.
Simultáneamente, los buenos servicios de correo web, ofrecen la
posibilidad de descargar los mensajes mediante Outlook Express u
otro programa que soporte el protocolo POP (es decir, casi
todos). Junto a esta posibilidad suelen tener otras herramientas
bastante eficaces para la eliminación automática del spam y los
virus. Hoy por hoy, es posible que el mejor servicio de este
tipo sea el ofrecido por Yahoo.

Para protegerse del spam, por tanto sólo hay que hace esto:

1º.- Nos abrimos una cuenta en un servidor de correo web
gratuito, por ejemplo en Yahoo (minuevacuenta@yahoo.com). 2º.-
Redirigimos nuestra cuenta de correo
(micorreopop@miservidor.com) hacia la cuenta de correo web 3º.-
Configuramos nuestro lector de correo (por ejemplo, el Outlook
Express) para que sólo lea el correo desde la cuenta de correo
web (minuevacuenta@yahoo.com)

Así habremos conseguido librarnos de un plumazo del 90/95% de la
basura que circula por la red.

No obstante, hay que tener un par de precauciones. Primero, si
dejamos nuestro buzón original (micorreopop@miservidor.com) como
tal, es posible que en poco tiempo se nos llene con todo el spam
recibido y deje de redireccionar los mensajes. Por eso es
importante utilizar una cuenta sólo redirigida. Segundo, si
queremos enviar correo necesitaremos una segunda cuenta que sí
envíe y reciba pero hay que ser muy cauto con ella y no dársela
a nadie ni publicarla en foros y otros sitios web de acceso
público porque si no, será finalmente objetivo del spam antes de
que nos demos cuenta
