How is it possible for the inductor and capacitor voltages to be larger than the imput voltage?

Let’s say you had a current flowing through an inductor fed by a 5 volt supply. If you had a switch in series with the inductor and could shut it off very quickly the voltage on the inductor would rise very high. If you had hooked a capacitor across the inductor so that the rising voltage charged the cap when the switch was closed, you would be able to charge the cap to much higher than the original 5 volt supply.

In recent years there has been a boon in technological concepts related to electronics and electrical domain. Electronic Engineering is a constant change and expansion of the branch of technology. Electronics and semiconductor engineering is one of the largest and fastest growing sectors. This growth has led to a wide range of patent filing, all through of. Electronics and semiconductors covers a wide range of everyday applications such as television, radio, computers, telecommunications, etc, that make our life easier and more enjoyable. It helps us to see, hear and communicate over long distances and perform tasks faster. The electronics play an important role in industries such as oil, energy, agriculture and many other important sectors of the economy. Electronics and semiconductor patents form a subclass electricity patents. The electrical patent class is broadly classified into many subclasses based on na area. Some subclasses include Digital Electronics, Analog Electronics, Micro Electronics, Fuzzy Electronics, Application Specific Integrated Circuit Design, Semiconductors and semiconductor devices, etc.

Patents further classified based on the development of its active elements involving the design and testing of electronic circuits that use the properties of electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, microcontrollers, microprocessors and transistors to achieve a particular functionality. For example, 326 is the generic class patents related to electronic digital logic devices, circuitry and sub combinations thereof, where no arithmetic operations are performed at discrete electrical signals representing a value normally described by numerical digits. Also, has subclass 12 for the logic of unemployed with a beat and subclass 37 for multifunctional or programmable logic having a beat.

Integrated circuits and processing architectures other categories protected by patents. Different aspects of these technologies, like architecture or design applications are protected through the use of different intellectual property laws. As a invention, the hardware architecture and its applications are protected as utility patents, while designs of integrated circuits are protected as design patents. Therefore, both design concepts and hardware are protected by patents. In performing its functions related to patents, the Office Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) examines patent applications and grants patents after developing the kind of patent and patentability of an invention. Claims of a patent to serve as a guide in the patent prosecution and infringement lawsuits.

There has been a steady growth in electricity, electronics and semiconductor patents filed and granted by the U.S. patent office since 1996. About 8, 16,349 patents are granted power to December 31, 2004 and each year, about 60,000 patents are granted power. U.S. Patent Office has granted approximately 3, 70,000 patents for semiconductors, 19,279 patent system global positioning and 75,109 electronic communication patents.

Since its creation, the patent system has tried to balance the tension between 2 goals of the competition. On the one hand, the law of technical awards for innovation by granting exclusive rights to decent people for inventions. By Moreover, attempts to expand the welfare of society as a whole, providing the benefits of innovation. Electronics and semiconductor patents provide the public valuable information on how to use and apply new technology once it enters the public domain.

One way to trace the development electronics and semiconductor technology is to continue developing its active elements, switches, valves and electronics systems. A trend latest circuit design is construction of integrated circuits, including the circuit as possible, often combining both analog circuits and digital on a single substrate. This area is known as application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) designers work with prefabricated circuits relatively small commonly called macro cells. In recent years there has been an increase in patenting, because in many industries and product development companies division of innovative labor is emerging, giving rise to the licensing of existing and potential technologies. Hewlett Packard, Sanyo and Sony are some major electronics companies in the world with a patent portfolio increasingly over the years.
