Is there a handphone out there that is powerful enough to play genesis and snes roms at full speed with sound?

Looking for a handphone to replace my N-gage QD, which could not emulate Genesis games with sound… as for Snes, pfff. The thing that n-gage also had was the unique button interface, which is suited for gaming. Is there any other hp out there which has that, and raw power?

Not as far as I know – other than my n-gage I’ve not seen any phone be able to cope with an emulator, full stop. But on picodrive at least I do get full speed megadrive/genesis games (but still no sound), but other than that I’d have to say no.

It seems obvious, but often ignored. A good user interface design can spell the difference between acceptance of a software product and market failure. If end users find the software to be too cumbersome or difficult to understand, then an otherwise excellent product could be doomed to failure. The objective the developer should be to make the software as professional looking and easy to use as possible.

Unfortunately, I found that a large number of software firmspay companiesespecially small or highly specialized and very little attention to the mechanics of good user interface style. "While this works, that's what matters!" seems to be their mantra, with little regard for the inconvenience this imposes on users.

Fortunately, that's not how we operate our company. Our team Developer invests considerable effort in making user interfaces as intuitive and foolproof as possible, because we know that this is something our customers appreciate. I've often commended my teammates for recognizing that excellence is worth pursuing.

Returning to the subject … I can not remember how many times I've found a software which was designed to work, but with little regard for ease of use. If the software forces the operator to constantly consult a manual or a cheat sheet, then which is a pretty good indication that the user interface needs improvement. Similarly, the software must allow the user to perform tasks quickly and efficiently, without sacrificing power and flexibility. This seems intuitive, and yet these considerations are so often lacking.

The sad part is that these shortcomings can often cured by a few simple guidelines. For example, it helps if the user can enter data using buttons and list boxes, instead of writing it by hand. It helps if the software offers a pop-up dialog boxes to guide users along the path. Even the judicious choice of icons and other graphics can turn a steep learning curve in a short and gentle slope.

Moreover, even such trivial matters as spelling and grammar attention they deserve. Badly written instructions may cause serious obstacles to operatorand even if they do not make it a bad image that the application developers.

There is much more that can be say about the mechanics of good user interface design, but that's a subject on which the whole book can be (and has been) written. Suffice it to say that a company strives for excellence should pay close attention to elements of software usability and flexibility. These are critical elements of software excellence, and worth pursuing.
