Is there any way to fix a shower’s water mixer if the HOT/COLD are switched?

When you turn the knob to the left, it initiates cold water and to the right is hot. Basically it’s backwards and seems that the original plumber or installer connected hot to cold and visa versa. The catch here is that it is a “stand up” shower, so I cannot access the wall behind the water mixer w/o removing the entire shower unit (basin?). If it’s possible to correct this, I would prefer to, as guests are constantly fighting the mixer. Thanks!

If it is a Moen all you need to do is turn the cartridge 180 degrees. Some other brands are also switchable. If that isn’t the case you will need to access the valve from one side of the wall or the other and replumb it. If you are not a plumber you might want to call one.
