question about a quad four motor?

My husband installed a water pump on a 98 grand am with a quad four motor. the car wont start now and the timing has been checked over 5 times and everything is right on mark.The guy drove it around for a week with a bad water pump. Any ideas on what could cause this car to not start?

check cam and crank timing marks a 6th. time .Was the car set at top-dead center before you installed the chain?does the car start and die or just just turn over with no start? did you hurt any of the ignition electrical wires removing the coil top? if the car was running before the chain was changed leads me to believe something happened during the r&r.
