Reading your water meter?
To help you understand how much water to your home or business use, you will want to know how to read your meter. This will also help identify leaks and discover ways to conserve water.
Step 1: Find your meter box, usually located in the front of the property near the street. Often, the box is in a direct line with the water faucet outside the major. It is housed in a concrete box usually marked "water". Carefully remove the lid using a tool like a screwdriver big. Insert the tool in one of the holes and remove the lid.

This could result in a difference in the amount you find, compared to the amount by which your project is based law. However, if the reading is significantly higher than what is on your bill, verification of a leak or try to determine the source of water use large.
