Is there any way to turn off the inspiration meter in the Sims 2?

I recently bought the Sims 2 and dont like it as much as the first one because of the inspiration meter. It ruins the game for me because I want the sims to do one thing but they get all upset because they have their own goals. They have mental breakdowns and then wont do anything. Is there any way I can just turn this option off or is it just part of the game I have to deal with??

You can’t turn it off. You *might* be able to find a hack for it but I’ve never heard of one.

The closest is if you have Nightlife EP then you can use the cheat lockAspiration [on/off] (”lockAspiration on” or “lockAspiration off”) it stops the aspiration meter from decaying or gaining.
There are ways you can cheat around it though.

If you don’t have Nightlife you can use the boolprop cheat “boolprop testingcheatsenabled true”
Enter it and then ctrl+click on any wants/fears to “fufill” it, it doesn’t go down in memories all it does is give you the points from that want. So you can keep the bar up.
