What is Patch of SONY VAIO VGN-CR220E?

I have a SONY VAIO VGN-CR220E Model Laptop. When I connect that to Internet an automatic update dialog box is appearing mentioning that an update is available. When I click ‘ok’, a sony’s site is being opened and when click on the tab of ‘update now’.. a dialog box is coming with “PLEASE SELECT PATCH”. On this if click OK the page is remaining as it is. I can’t find any patch for my Laptop.

Do you know what program is telling you that you need an update? Because it takes you to the Sony site rather than to Windows, I would suspect that the program is proprietary to Sony, something like BigFix. If so, it may be telling you there’s an update, but that update may not be available or applicable to computers being used in India. Or the update may not be directly available through Sony.

First, do an actual Windows update from your browser by clicking Tools (in the Menu Bar) > Windows Update. Choose the ‘Custom’ update rather than ‘Express’ as this allows you to choose what you install.

You will want all the ‘High Priority’ updates (except Internet Explorer 7 if you’re using Windows XP). But you will also see links for ‘Software updates’ and ‘Hardware updates’ in the left frame. Take a look at both of these, especially, in your case, the latter. ‘Hardware updates’ may contain what you’re looking for.

WARNING: Windows update will first require you to install the latest Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) tool. This is fine if you are using an authentic copy of Windows. If there is any chance your operating system is from a pirated copy, however, installing WGA will permanently crash your computer.

Second, if the update notification is coming from a utility other than Windows update, you can safely remove that program in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. It’s probably just slowing your computer down anyway.
