Elma Watch Master is a testing machine that can be used for testing of quartz and mechanical watches. The testing station has many features including mechanical beat rate indicator, quartz pulse rate indicator, quartz circuit tester, motor tester, electrical resistance indicator and power supply checking. The tester has a movement clamp with a special design, electrical probes, mirrored observation platform and a beat rate measuring bed. The Elma Watch Matic mechanical watch testing station is specially meant for mechanical watches. The testing machine measures and displays rate deviation, amplitude and beat error. It supports many measuring modes for Swiss made escapements, coaxial escapements, AP escapements and a mode with specific amplitude filter where only the rate is measured. The machine is equipped with a speaker to test acoustics and it can be connected to a PC, printer or GPS receiver to allow the numeric results to be stored or printed.

The MTG 1000 TYMC multifunction timegrapher is a compact model which is used to measure beat number, beat rate, neat error and amplitude of the balance wheel. It is a very useful machine in watch service. It can produce an acoustic simulation of the watch beat. It has a microprocessor with a LCD display to display the beat rate and beat error and amplitude. It also has a microphone and the machine begins to measure immediately after a watch is put on the microphone. There are many models available in the multi function timegrapher, each with its own unique features.

The MTG 3000 timegrapher supports an automatic 6 position testing and can be connected to a microphone and a printer. It is very widely used across the world in professional watch repair shops. It comes with a high resolution display and supports display modes like horizontal and vertical – pushing and pulling modes. It can store up to 2048 beats. A watch can be tested for a programmed time in the 6 positions.

The 4000A model has a high resolution colour display, the new TYAPS signal processor and a highly stable TCXO time base. This machine has automatic adjusting of the input signal level, ato detection or manual selection of beat number, microphone rotatable in 6 positions, measuring of beat rate, beat error and amplitude and many more functions. The 4000B model is a double channel model which is used in final QC of watch manufacturing. With this model, it is possible to measure two watches having same beat rate simultaneously and show results on the display. The machine has 2 microphones rotatable in 6 positions and performs functions like the 4000A model. The MTG-500 model timegrapher is a compact and economical timing machine with all the basic testing facilities like measuring the beat rate and amplitude.

Vibration Glossary

In the world of mechanical maintenance, vibration remains one of the first indicators of the health of a machine. Understand why it happens and how vibration manifests is a key first step toward prevention of vibration to cause problems in the production environment.

For those involved in equipment maintenance and vibration diagnosis, the following is a glossary of basic terms Vibration

Acceleration: The rate of change of speed often represented as "G" or "mm/s2" in the metric system or "in/sec2" in the English system. The acceleration is not constant but varies throughout the vibration cycle, reaching maximum velocity reaches its minimum. This is typically when a particular mass, has slowed to a stop and is about to begin a recovery.

Accelerometer: A transducer whose electrical output responds directly to the acceleration. Accelerometers typically cover a frequency range much wider, with pick up signals are not present in other types of transducers. Due to the frequency range, the accelerometers are ideal for most types of rotating equipment, becoming the most widely used transducer measurements vibrations.

Alignment: A condition where the parts in the drivetrain are parallel or perpendicular to According to the design requirements. A tester as the Fluke 810 * Vibration tester can diagnose the conditions of misalignment when these elements are not aligned according to design requirements, leading to excessive wear of the bearing and power consumption on the machine.

Pad Accessory: Deputy pads (bronze or stainless steel) can be placed at appropriate places measuring machines using an industrial adhesive. The triaxial accelerometer attached the these pills for the collection of measurement. The pad may include an alignment mark to ensure consistent orientation of three-axis accelerometer vibration (radial, tangential and axial). The pad ensures a good transfer of vibration data to the transducer, providing a strong and consistent assembly.

Axial: One of the three axes of vibration (radial, tangential and axial), axial plane parallel to the centerline of an axis of rotation or axis of a swivel.

Equilibrium (Mechanics) Adjustment of the distribution of mass in a rotating element, to reduce forces vibration generated by the rotation.

Condition monitoring (CM): The measurement, recording and analysis parameters machines (such as acceleration) to determine the health of the machine. current condition is compared with the machine was new. Also known as machinery monitoring health.

Displacement: When measuring machine vibration, displacement represents the actual distance of the vibration makes the moving party in question. It is measured in thousandths of an inch (mils) in the English system and millimeters (mm) in the metric system.

Error: The event, or inoperable state, in which any element or part of an item does not meet or not, perform as specified.

Mechanism failure: mechanical or physical parts resulting in a failure.

forced vibration: Vibration of a machine caused by some mechanical excitation. If the excitation is periodic and continuous, the movement eventually becomes the steady-state response.

Frequency: The number of events that occur within a certain period of time, frequency is also calculated as the inverse time (ie one divided by the interval of time). Frequency is typically expressed in terms of Hertz (Hz), but can also be expressed in cycles per minute (Cpm) or revolutions per minutes (rpm) when multiplied times 60 Hz. Also be represented as multiples of the speed, or "orders" rpm where the frequency is divided by the rotational speed of the machine.

Frequency domain: From the existing vibration time domain, a vibration signal is represented as a waveform of time if viewed on an oscilloscope. If plotted, the time waveform represent a plot of amplitude vs. time. If the waveform is transformed into the frequency domain, the result is a spectrum that represents a graph of amplitude vs. frequency.

Harmonic: A number whose sine frequency is an integer ("2 '3, etc.) of a fundamental right (" 1) frequency.

Harmonic Distortion: The output of a device, distortion caused by the presence of frequencies not present in the input signal.

Hertz: (-h lower case, but abbreviated Hz) frequency unit.

Imbalance: One condition in rotating equipment in the center of mass is not located in the center of rotation. Imbalance can severely reduce bearing life and cause vibration improper machine.

Insulation: Reducing the severity of movement, usually by a supporting resilience. A shock absorber mount or isolator attenuates. A vibration isolator assembly or attenuates the steady-state vibrations.

Surveillance equipment Health: See Condition monitoring (CM).

The mean time between failure (MTBF): A measure of reliability for repairable items: The average number of life units during which all parts of the item within its limits, during a measurement interval particularly under conditions.

A mean time to failure (MTF): A basic measure of reliability for non-repairable items: the total number of life units of an item divided by the total number of failures within that population, during a particular measurement interval under conditions established.

Orders: In rotating machines, orders are multiples or harmonics of running speed (or associated reference components).

Pitch: The rotation at the level of forward movement on the axis of the left-right.

Radio: One of the three axes of vibration (radial, tangential and axial), the radial plane represents the direction from the transducer to the center axis of rotation. For typical horizontal machines, radial is equal to the vertical axis. For horizontal machines radial horizontal axis refers to which is attached accelerometer.

Repeatability: The maximum deviation of the average of corresponding data points in the same position. The difference Maximum output for repeated identical stimuli when there is no change in the other test conditions.

Replication: Evidence that reproduces a desired specified history.

Resolution: The smallest entry of change that produces a detectable change in production of an instrument.

Root Cause Analysis: The determination of what actually caused a failure.

Run Speed: The speed, usually expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm), which runs a rotary machine. It also can be expressed in Hz divided rpm 60.

Sensitivity: The ratio of the electrical signal (output) and the number of repair (input).

Solid State Sensor: sensor without moving parts.

Tangent: One of the three axes of vibration (radial, tangential and axial), the tangential plane is placed 90 degrees to the radial plane, running tangent to the drive shaft. For typical horizontal machines, is tangential equal to the horizontal axis. For typical machines vertical tangent is equal to the second horizontal axis perpendicular to the mounting of the accelerometer.

Imbalance: unequal distribution of mass in a rotor. The centerline of mass does not coincide with the rotation or geometric centerline. Also known as imbalance.

Speed: Speed is the rate of change of position, measured in distance per unit time. By measuring the vibration signals, the speed is also represents the rate of change in displacement and is expressed in inches (in) or millimeters (mm) per second.

Vibration: Mechanical movement around a reference point of equilibrium.
