Rotor Control

I need to move my TV antenna Rotor Control Box across the room, but I dont have enough cord, what can I do?
Can I just add more of the same wire using small wire nuts and then move the rotor control box where I want it.
The cord I am talking about is the cord that runs from the Rotor Control Box to the antenna. Not he plug in power cord.
Yes
You’ve got the right idea, just extend the wires and insulate with wire nuts or electrical tape.
If it ever fails, you may want to look into new control box with Infrared remote.

The basics of a car engine
To understand how the ignition system of your vehicle works we have to review the basics of combustion internal.
Basically, a car engine is like a large pump. Air and exhaust gas is pumped and pumped out. It is a byproduct of excess energy being sent to the wheels and exhaust (which exits through the tailpipe). The engine of his car combines air and fuel, and adds a spark. The spark ignites the fuel / air mixture to cause an explosion. This is what we refer to as ignition.
The ignition system is a set of components that work together to create the ignition. The ignition system includes an ignition coil, a distributor, a distributor cap, rotor, plug wires and title = "How to Replace Spark Plugs"> the spark plugs. Older ignition systems use what is called "points" and the capacitor system " at the distributor. The ignition current as the most likely is that the car contains uses ECU. An ECU or engine control unit controls the spark timing ignition.
Well also take this piece by piece so that everything makes sense.
1. Ignition Coil
The ignition coil has the weak battery power and converts it into a spark that is powerful enough to ignite the fuel vapor. There are two coils while in the ignition coil and they are right on top of the windings called each other. The windings are distinguished as primary and secondary schools. The primary coil meets the power to create a spark. The secondary sends it to the dealer.
There are three contacts on an ignition coil. If the ignition coil has an external connector, then the contacts are inside the box. The contact of large and visible in the center of the ignition coil wire is where the coil is. The coil cable is the cable connecting the ignition coil to the distributor cap. The second contact is a 12V wire that connects to a source of positive energy. The third prong sends the information to the rest of the vehicle, such as the tachometer.
2. The distributor, distributor cap and rotor
As mentioned above, links to ignition coil distributor through a wire coil. The dealer will get that spark powerful and sends it to the spark plugs.
The roulette dealer is a very precise. Tour the distribution of spark to each spark plug at the right time. The rotor, which is actually connected directly to the shaft of the distributor, is the mechanism distributes the sparks. Since it is connected to the distributor, the rotor turns, makes contact with a number of points corresponding to the number of cylinders of your engine. Then, it sends the spark through the point of the spark plug wire is on the other end. Distributors modern use of electronic assistance can alter the time of ignition.
3. Spark plugs and wires
As mentioned earlier spark, once the ignition coil creates the great power distributor and the rotor has that spark and turn right exit. However, we still have one mode of the spark plug. This is done by spark plug wires.
The contact points of the distributor cap connected to a spark plug wire that carries the spark plugs. The spark plugs are bolted to the cylinder head.
The end of the spark plug is located on the top of the cylinder and that's where the action happens. Once the intake valve lets out the right amount of fuel vapor and air in the cylinder, the spark plug generates a hot blue spark that ignites the mixture. This is what causes combustion. The ignition system thousands of times per minute.
4. The ignition module
Through an old system called "points-and condenser system, a distributor based in many of its own mechanisms when the spark at the right time. The starting point is establishing a specific difference creating the right amount of sparkle, while the condenser was regulation.
Today, this is all handled by computers. This team is called an ignition module. If this fails, all you can do is replace it, because it can not be repaired.
This should demystify this part of your car a system recently and concluded ignition system 101.
