Is anyone else less than thrilled at how their state is distributing the stimulus money?
I live in Oklahoma and last night on the news they showed that $340 million dollars is going to build a tunnel for turtles to cross under the highway through in Florida, and no I am not kidding, then they showed this little wilderness habitat in Oklahoma that has gotten a substantial amount of money to expand their area and make it more “creature” friendly. Could someone please tell me how this is stimulating OUR economy? And also, I am way below that $250K a year mark that Obama set for, “anyone who makes less then this amount will save money, no new taxes for anyone under that income level. I was a little frustrated to see my electricity bill go from $180.00 to $330.00 last month, I called the electric company and they said Obama’s “new deal” is charging us 14% more on every so many kilowatts. I knew this guy was bad news but he is a failure, before long nobody will be able to afford to live here.
My corporate taxing state of California is currently sending out late payments on their unemployment roster.
Perhaps, taxing big business and chasing them across state lines in the process is NOT the way government ON ANY LEVEL should conduct itself?

The vote was 324-84 as the House of Representatives recently approved legislation allowing the Justice Department to sue OPEC members. The project House blames OPEC for limiting oil supplies and working together to set crude prices. It is said that gas and oil prices United States are too high and that OPEC should produce more products.
Of course, voting is a study of hypocrisy in Congress because many of the same members, who for decades have opposed drilling for oil and gas in various parts of the United States, voted for the conclusion of OPEC responsible for not producing enough. The sad reality for the United States Congress is that the price of a barrel of oil now exceeds $ 125 and prices gas pump near or above $ 4.00 per gallon, the American public can now clearly see the consequences of questionable not to have a coherent strategy long-term domestic energy.
There is no short term solution to this energy shortage worldwide, either. The energy needs of rapidly developing nations have been combined with the lack of alternative energy to initiate planning for the energy of the perfect storm for consumers. There is not enough supply to meet the growing demand for energy in the long term. However, this economic reality escapes the clutches of politicians in Washington Beltway. Thus, Congress wastes its time to vote to sue OPEC for not producing more oil. Action, which if ever implemented, would undoubtedly make it the oil and gas prices even higher.
The long-term solution to the problem of energy independence is the oil and gas much that Congress is trying to sue OPEC to provide more of. In fact, the best examples of a way forward for energy independence can be seen in initiatives that U.S. military has been using to address their own energy consumption.
Historically, the military has been a major national energy hog. Than consumes 340,000 barrels of oil a day, or 1.5% of all oil used in the country. Bill overall energy of the Defense Department was $ 13.6 billion in 2006 (latest figures available). In fact, the bill Air Force jet fuel alone has tripled to $ 6 million in just the last four years.
However, the Air Force is acting as the U.S. Congress when faced with the spiraling cost of energy. In is actually trying to do something concrete about the problem. The Air Force has been experimenting with alternative fuels to reduce dependence on external energy and reduce costs. His plan is to create a synthetic fuel supersonic B-1 bomber. The Air Force is also experimenting to make engine parts out lighter metals such as titanium, in order to increase fuel efficiency.
Meanwhile, an Air Force base Nellis, near Las named Vegas just opened one of the largest solar panels in the U.S., a 140-acre field of 72,000 motorized panels that powers the base and sells energy to nearby communities. The Pentagon is soliciting bids for three similar sets at other bases. Another program of the Air Force in Iraq is turning away from the bases of the Force Aviation fuel bio.
The truth is that initiatives for the past few years, the Pentagon has sponsored to find solutions to rising costs energy. These initiatives can be seen in all branches of the military services. In the Army, the engineers are instructing the contractors to build vehicles armored hybrid engine. Furthermore, research is well under way to explore the possibility of building small nuclear power plants in the unused portion military bases at a distance.
The U.S. Army has also sponsored a futuristic scheme to collect solar energy on satellites and beam back to Earth. This space-based solar energy using solar panels to collect sunlight in orbit. It would then beam energy to Earth as microwave or a laser. Energy is collected on the antennae on the ground and then converted into electricity. Unlike solar panels based on land, power satellites sun orbited the Earth could operate at night and during cloudy conditions.
In fact, solar energy generation satellites could also solve supply problems in distant places like Iraq, where fuel is currently in truck convoys along the dangerous and cost of electricity for some bases can exceed $ 1 per kilowatt hour, about 10 times what it costs in the U.S.. This technology has the potential to provide a source of abundant clean energy and reduce global competition for oil.
The Pentagon's war plan in the fight against the increasing price of energy is to go green. In fact, the use of creativity and ingenuity of America that will solve the energy crisis in the future. The Pentagon certainly succeeds. The absurdity of the game act of Congress against OPEC shows how much the politicians in Washington Beltway no.
