why is my ipod frozen?

ok, here’s the dealio, i just got my new ipod nano 5th generation like 2 days ago, and i connect it to my computer to add music and pictures etc.
annnnnnnnd i did as it says on the screen “eject before disconnecting” yada yada yada, so i ejected it, but i noticed that the light for the screen of my ipod didnt turn on, and another thing i noticed was that the syncronizing screen was frozen, still on display, but no backlight…..get what i mean? now for the cherry and whipped cream at the top, i plug it into my computer hoping it would turn on, but it doesnt, my computer makes the sound to indicate that it was connected but it doesnt turn on, and as i connect it when itunes is up, itunes doesnt find it AT ALL……………….please help me

press the center and menu button to reset it

if not put it in DFU mode and restore
